The game should offer you to connect to Google Play/Game Center/AppGallery when you first enter the game.

 

If you can see the sign "Disconnect" on the button "Google Play/Game Center/AppGallery" in settings then you have successfully connected the account and your progress gets saved properly.

 

If you can see the sign "Connect" on the button then the account is not connected. We highly recommend you to connect your account so that you don’t lose all in-game achievements.
