If you’re lucky enough to find or get grenades (the more difficult the zone, the more chances you have to find weapons on it), then the process itself of using them is not so difficult. You need to place the grenades in the character's pocket slot, then, after closing the inventory, click on the grenade icon, and, while holding the button, set the direction of the projectile, and finally release the button.
